Help & support

Answers to the questions people ask most. Still stuck? Contact us or email support@skywavedx.com.

A station won’t play

Stations sometimes go offline or change their stream. Tap Try next, or Report in the player: reported stations are re-tested every night and dropped if they keep failing.

Shortwave is just noise

Shortwave reception changes with the time of day and the sun. Skywave DX checks the signal and skips receivers that only hear noise; if nothing comes through, try another broadcast, or a lower frequency at night and a higher one in the day.

Why does a receiver say it’s full or only works on its own site?

Receivers are run by their owners, who set how many listeners they allow and whether other sites may connect. We respect those limits.

How do likes and rankings work?

A like counts once per listener. Stations are ranked by their popularity in the Radio Browser directory plus plays and likes here this week. “On air now” is ranked by how many people listened this week.

Use it on another device

In More → Sync make a private code and enter it on your other device: likes and your DX log follow you. No account needed.

Install it as an app

See Get the app: iPhone, iPad, Android, Mac, Windows and Chromebook.

The alarm didn’t ring

Web pages can’t wake a sleeping device: keep Skywave DX open (with “keep screen on”) for the alarm to ring.

My station is listed and I’d like it removed

Use the removal form; we remove it, usually within a few days.

Is it free?

Yes. No account, no ads.
